About Us — Brief History
It started when Mayor Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano visited one of the businesses here in Tagoloan and noticed that the staff in the office did not recognized him as the mayor because they were non-Tagoloanons, while those who did the menial works, most of them were Tagoloanons, were the ones who greeted him. This incident heightened Mayor Bambi to pursue his long time dream and vision for the Tagoloanons and the neighboring municipalities. It is the creation and establishment of Tagoloan Community College which is essentially the realization of Local Government Officials' ambition and dream to offer high-quality, reasonably priced higher education to the low-income segments of society.
By persistent work and dedication, the Tagoloan Community College was created by virtue of Municipal Ordinance No. 03, Series of 2003 as an integral part of the collective social development thrust of the local government unit under the administration of Mayor Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano.
The ordinance was sponsored by Councilor Rolando E. Seno, the Chairperson of Education Committee, and duly approved by the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Vince Dagus Sanchez on July 23, 2003. It immediately went into operations on August 23, 2003 offering ten (10) Baccalaureate Degree Courses with 162 students. This includes Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEED), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), Bachelor of Science in Technology with major fields of specialization in Food Technology (BSFT), Automotive Technology (BSAT) and Electronics Technology (BSET), Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (DEVCOM)and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management major in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM).
On its third year of operations, the Bachelor of Science in Criminology and the Bachelor of Arts in Social Science were offered. By that time, the college has more than one thousand four hundred enrollees from Tagoloan and adjoining municipalities under the Center Administrator Dr. Beatriz Bentuzal.
In 2008, the number of enrollees has increased from one thousand four hundred to four thousand plus. The College President at the time, Dr. Rolando D. Acoriba, Jr. brought some commendable changes both academic and non-academic aspects of the institution during the administration of then Mayor Paulino Yap Emano as chairperson of the Board.
In 2017, by virtue of Republic Act 10687 otherwise known as UniFAST (Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education), Tagoloan Community College becomes the partner agency of the program through the effort of Mayor Heckert Hernando Jude V. Emano. Since then, the students enjoyed the free higher education to all academic programs.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the school, through the leadership of Dr. Kharen Jane S. Ungab under Mayor Gomer A. Sabio continued serving quality education by adapting new normal modality through online/virtual classes.
At present, there is a dramatic increase number of enrollees despite the new normal challenges under the current administration of Mayor Attorney Nadya B. Emano- Elipe with Dr. Cheryl Ann A. Matela as the OIC President, and later, the Mayor herself took over in administering the school at large.
