Section 1: The Tagoloan Community College recognizes and respects that each student has different sexual orientation, gender identity and expression. However, the institution provides guidelines for proper decorum inside the campus.

 

Section 2: Dress and Hair Code

 

A. Policy and Purpose

The dress code policy outlines how we expect our students to dress at school. Students should be aware that their appearance is important when representing our institution in public. The appearance of a student can have a positive or negative impact on our institution's vision, mission, goals, and culture.

B. Scope

This policy applies to all bona fide students of Tagoloan Community College.

 

C.  Uniform and Haircut Policy

Every student should observe the NO UNIFORM, NO ID, NO ENTRY policy of the school.

For School Uniform:

1.  Prescribed institutional uniform for male students is: BLACK SLACKS PANTS, PEACH CREAM POLO, and BLACK SHOES.

Male Students for the following courses:

1.1 Criminal Justice and Public Safety

·         Light Blue Polo with complete paraphernalia

·         Navy Blue slacks

·         Wet look shoes

1.2  Hospitality Management

·         White long sleeves with black vest

·         Black Trouser with black leather/leatherette belt

·         Black shoes

 

1.3 Midwifery

·         Peach Twill White Polo

·         Black Pants

·         Black Shoes

2.  Prescribed institutional uniform for female students is: MAROON SLACKS PANTS/SKIRTS (1 to 2 inch above the knee), PEACH CREAM BLOUSE, and CLOSED BLACK SHOES.

Female Students for the following courses:

2.1 Criminal Justice and Public Safety

·         Light Blue Polo with complete paraphernalia

·         Navy Blue slacks

·         Wet look shoes

2.2 Hospitality Management

·         White long sleeves with black vest

·         Black Skirt with knee level length

·         Black stockings

·         Black closed shoes (two inches high)

2.3 Midwifery

·         Below the Knee Peach Twill White Dress

·         Black closed shoes

3. The prescribed departmental uniform may be worn duly approved by the College Dean, DSAS and College President.

 

4. All transgender students of the Tagoloan Community College may wear their preferred institutional uniforms with the approval of the College Dean and the Dean of Student Affairs and Services. The colleges of Midwifery, Hospitality Management, and Criminal Justice and Public Safety are not allowing students to wear prescribed uniform contrary to their sex assigned at birth. Transgender students may wear the prescribed female school uniform under certain conditions, as follows:

·         Peach Twill Cream Blouse with Maroon Necktie (with school seal)

·         Maroon slacks

·         Black closed shoes

 

5. Strictly no CROSS DRESSING allowed to all gender spectrum students that are enrolled at colleges of Midwifery, Hospitality Management, and Criminal Justice and Public Safety.

 

6. Cross dressing is only allowed to transgenders (not in the specific College mentioned in number 5) with the approval of the College Deans, Dean of the Student Affairs and Services, and the OIC President and must strictly follow the dress code policies of the female students.

 

5. Male students are not allowed to wear piercings.

6. For male students’ haircut, gender consideration is encouraged. However, students are expected to follow haircut guidelines set forth by the School.

7. Students who identify as transgender, who have long hair prior to their enrollment, are permitted to keep their long hair, but it must be kept in a ponytail at all times (except the students from Midwifery, Hospitality Management, and Criminal Justice and Public Safety).

 

8. Transgender students who have short hair and wish to have long hair are not allowed. They must observe proper haircut. Approval will be on case-to-case basis.

 

9. All students are not allowed to have exaggerated shade and tone hair colors. Hair colors must be in the shades of black and brown. Other hair colors are not allowed.

10. All students must be clean and well-groomed. Grooming styles dictated by religion and ethnicity aren’t restricted.

 

11. Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday the students, regardless of the gender spectrum, are allowed to enter the school wearing casual clothes with the following guidelines:

·         All students, regardless of the gender spectrum, are not allowed to wear sleeveless, see-through and mid rift clothes.

·         All students, regardless of the gender spectrum, are not allowed to wear short pants, tattered, patched, and jazzed up jeans, and mini skirts (more than three inches above the knee).

·         All students, regardless of the gender spectrum, are not allowed to wear rubber and plastic slippers.

·         All clothes must be school-appropriate. Clothes that are typical in workouts and outdoor activities aren’t allowed.

·         Casual clothes that are too revealing or inappropriate aren’t allowed.

·         All clothes must be clean and in good shape. Discernable rips, tears, or holes aren’t allowed.

·         All students, regardless of the gender spectrum, are not allowed to wear clothes with stamps that are offensive or inappropriate.

 

12. Students under the colleges of Business Administration, Arts and Sciences, Information Technology, Library and Information Science, and Education are only allowed to wear their TYPE B Polo Shirt Uniform, Department Shirt, Program Shirt, and Organization Shirt during Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Students who wish to wear the said Type B Uniform and Polo Shirt during Monday to Thursday must get a prior approval and permission slip issued by the Dean of the Student Affairs and Services. Permission slip must be presented at the Security when entering the campus. Failure in presenting the permission slip, the students cannot enter the campus.

 

13. Students under the colleges of Engineering Technology, Midwifery, and Hospitality Management may wear their TYPE B and TYPE C Uniforms during their laboratory classes. The students must wear the appropriate clothing and shoes.

 

14. Students who have PE classes are only allowed to wear their PE uniforms during PE schedules. Students may wear PE attires if they are unable to wear the prescribed PE uniforms with these following guidelines:

·         White Tee Shirt

·         Jogging Pants (preferred color: maroon)

·         Sport Shoes (running shoes, basketball shoes, cross training shoes, and tennis shoes)

 

15. For working students, they need to procure a written clearance signed by the Dean of the Student Affairs and Services upon the presentation of certificate of employment before they will allow to come to class without wearing the prescribed uniform. Approval will be on case-to-case basis.

 

16. For students who have fieldwork and practicum, they can enter the campus wearing their prescribed uniforms (TYPE A and TYPE B). Transgender students may wear the female prescribed fieldwork and practicum uniform (except students from Midwifery, Hospitality Management, and Criminal Justice and Public Safety) with the following guidelines:

·         Prescribed Upper Uniform

·         Slacks

·         Prescribed Shoes

17. Proposals for creating new designs for COLLEGE TYPE B AND C UNIFORMS, DEPARTMENT POLO SHIRTS, ORGANIZATION POLO SHIRTS, FIELDWORK AND PRACTICUMER UNIFORMS (TYPE A AND TYPE B) must be approved by the Dean of Student Affairs and Services. Wearing unapproved uniforms with the school logo or any department and organization logos affiliated with the institution shall be subject to higher sanctions.

 

18. Students who are Muslims or member of any ethnic group may request different design for the prescribed institutional school uniforms and fieldwork and practicum uniforms in accordance to their religion with the approval of the DSA.

 

19. Students who are member of the Varsity team may wear sports attire when entering the campus with the prior approval by DSA only during the approved sports practices. Wearing sports attire during classes are not permitted. Permission slip must be presented to the security upon entering.

 

20. Students who are member of the PEP SQUAD and DANCE TROUPE may wear training and practice attire when entering the campus  with the prior approval by the DSA only during the approved trainings and practices. Wearing training and practice attire during classes are not permitted. Permission slip must be presented to the security upon entering.

 

21. Students who fail to comply numbers 19 and 20 policies will have demerit points and will affect their membership with the affiliated team, squad, and troupe.

 

22. Students violating the dress code and uniform policy shall not be allowed to enter the campus.

23. Deliberate and continuous disregard to the dress code and uniform policy shall be subject to higher sanctions.

 

24. Dress code and uniform policy may change in special cases with the approval of the DSA and the OIC College President. For example, students may require to wear casual clothes for an event.
