The College of Hospitality Management of Tagoloan Community College showcased its skills and creativity in a three-day event of KUMBIRA 2024, with the theme "Keeping Traditions, Brewing Innovations," held on October 18, 2024, at Limketkai Center Atrium, Cagayan De Oro City.
During the event's final day, the top chefs are set to battle it out in the highly anticipated finale of the culinary competition, starting with the final round of KUMBIRA Chef Master's "Culinary Challenge." Mr. John Claude Tacmo, one of the finalists, infuses his personality into his plate as he features his Piaprang Banana Saba in Lemongrass Skewers and Banana Saba sa Adobong Puti with Binake.
Mr. Juvic Labrador competed in the Housekeeping-Bed Making Challenge Professional Category, clinching 2nd place with his inspiration of the rich cultural heritage of the T'boli, indigenous people of Lake Sebu in the highlands of South Cotabato, Mindanao. Mr. Robert Niรฑeza was hailed as the champion in the student category as he showed off his housekeeping skills, inspired by the unity of Mindanao's rich culture and heritage with the elegance of modern hospitality.
Moreover, in the afternoon program, KUMBIRA talks about chefs' journeys beyond the kitchen with Chef Norbert Gandler, Penk Ching Tan, Chef Sandy Daza, and Chef Jessie Sincioco.
