On September 9, 2024, the TCC Covered Court hosted Panag-Uban 2024, an annual event that ushered in new leadership and welcomed a fresh cohort of students. The event was organized by the newly elected SBO Officers and marked by a series of significant addresses and activities.
SBO Governor Andrel Ken Caculba, entering his second term, opened the program with a message of ambition and progress. Caculba expressed his desire to conclude his term with the college achieving new heights in both academic and extracurricular domains.
Dr. Kharen Jane S. Ungab, Vice President of Academic Affairs, welcomed the 827 incoming first-year students of the College of Education. She urged students to challenge themselves and step beyond their comfort zones. The Dean of the College of Education reinforced this sentiment, assuring attendees that no one would be left behind during this academic year.
The program also included the introduction of officers from the five academic programsโEnglish, Filipino, AP, BEED, and BPEDโas well as the new SBO Officers. These officers took their oaths in a ceremony led by SBO Adviser Teresito Adajar.
A brief overview of each program was presented: Dr. Krisha Angela Omayao for English, Ms. Laugene Faith Amora for Filipino, Dr. Josie M. Sardido for AP, Mr. Michael Vincent Casino for BEED, and Ms. Jo-Ann R. Hinosolango for BPED. The audience was entertained by the intermission numbers prepared by program officers.
Institutional policies were discussed by Mr. Vincent Janu A. Razalo, who highlighted the enforcement of institutional uniforms from Monday to Thursday and proper greeting protocols. Razalo also announced the ongoing effort to establish a college canteen.
Further details were provided on course guidelines by Dr. Leonieses J. Kilaton, the grading system by Darrell Cabudol, and the code of academic integrity by Dr. Jeddah Q. Justol, emphasizing the importance of honesty.
The event featured its first-ever raffle draw, with prizes including prepaid load, free uniforms, grocery packages, a pangkabuhayan showcase, and a brand-new cellphone.
The day concluded with a presentation on COED SBO plans and activities. The program ended with remarks from SBO Vice Governor Mr. Kally Neven Abapo, marking a hopeful start to the academic year.
